BP Magnus Platform
ACE Winches provided a bespoke engineering solution to the special winching and gantry lifting requirements on BP Magnus Platform in the North Sea. BP installed a number of new risers to the outer structure of the Magnus platform. ACE Winches were subcontracted by Technip Offshore UK to provide a turnkey bespoke solution for the provision of all lifting equipment and gantry control systems. Equipment was designed, manufactured and delivered by ACE. A large gantry system which transversed over the side of the platform carried two ACE 50 Tonne SWL Winches which lifted and positioned the risers and associated riser clamps. A third ACE 100 Tonne SWL Winch carried out all lifting from Technips service ship to the platform. All equipment was operating in a zone II area and was built and delivered meeting all industry standards. The project was successfully completed during 2005.
Oilexco Balmoral Platform
ACE Winches designed, manufactured and delivered a specialist unmanned emergency release system for an electrical and hydraulic control umbilical connection. The package included a module which was fabricated and attached to the side of the platform. ACE Winches provided a winching system which allowed the controlled release and deployment of the umbilical to the seabed in the event of abandonment. The project was successfully completed during 2007.
