People Development Category Finalist - ACE are dedicated to training their staff at all levels. Modern apprenticeship schemes were introduced in 1996. 25% of all ACE employees are in apprenticeship or graduate training programmes . ACE are committed to identifying and enhancing individual skills and ongoing personal development. ACE have an internal promotion policy to develop and reward commitment and loyalty from its existing employees.

Socially Responsible Category Finalist - ACE Winches is committed to supporting young people from local communities in their personal and career development through engaging with local schools and educational establishments. In economic development terms, the company is making a significant investment in a new global headquarters in Central Aberdeenshire. This development further reinforces ACE’s commitment to the North East of Scotland’s rural community and future economy.

Internationalisation Award Category Finalist - Since 2006 ACE’s International Business share has risen from 40% of its total revenue to a staggering 70%, from £5m to £12m in 2009. Total international sales and services have been spread across the globe from Nova Scotia, Canada to Terra del Fuego, Argentina. ACE’s international strategy for worldwide development has seen the company stamp their mark in the global arena for marine and offshore winching services.

Rising Star - This certificate is awarded to an individual employee who has shown outstanding potential and is proven to have made a major impact and contribution within their company. Since the company first began recruiting employees in 1993 their stated objective was to secure a long-term future for their workers and families. This ethos and statement are still retained today, 16 years after it was introduced.
Ace Winches is committed to developing individuals to help them to grow and learn as the company grows. In Feb 2009 the company were re-accredited for IIP (Investors in People), demonstrating their commitment to developing all its staff in line with the business objectives
James Knowles Head of Economic Development, Aberdeenshire Council quoted “On training and development, ACE Winches are very much developing their own workforce via apprenticeships and other employee training as appropriate.”
